Manager Finance & Business Support

Matthews is a leader in eyewear/eyecare with fourteen optometry practices throughout NZ, 60 staff with a central hub in Nelson.   They are currently in an expansion phase making this an excellent time to join.  Key to their success is their people orientation and customer focus.  They have strongly held relationships with patients, staff, suppliers and colleagues and deliver highest standards of quality and professional care.

Reporting to the CEO, the Manager Finance & Business Support will be responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting and will further develop and streamline monthly financial processes.  They use Xero as their accounting package.   You will be assisted by a small and experienced accounts/administration team to ensure debtors, creditors and reconciliations are completed, manage the payroll for 60 using ACE, tax matters – GST,FBT and IRD, prepare budgets and cashflows and provide analysis reporting.  You will also have regular contact and involvement with the practices helping them manage their financial and administrative activities.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting and may also be tertiary qualified, but the most important aspect is the ability to independently take on challenges and opportunities with energy and passion.  You will pride yourself on your attention to detail and timeliness and have previous experience in developing internal accounting processes for transparency and productivity.  You will enjoy being part of a committed management team supporting practices and building a strong business.  Excellent IT skills including Excel are essential with a sound understanding of Xero an advantage.

This is a diverse role covering hands on financial activities through to broader strategic considerations.  It’s ideally suited to a person who wants to take on a broader role than purely financial, enjoys interaction and communication and who has passion and pride in what they do.
