The Cawthron Institute is New Zealand’s largest independent science organisation, offering a broad spectrum of science related services to environmentally and economically support sustainable development of primary industries. Based in Nelson and employing over 200 staff, they work closely with regional councils, government departments, major industries, private companies, and other research organisations throughout New Zealand and around the world. As well, they take a lead role in inspiring and supporting young scientists and science education.
Cawthron has created a new role of Director (Emerging) to provide an opportunity to those committed to developing experience in governance to develop their skills and take a seat at the board table on a one year term. The new appointee will be treated as a full board member and will take up the role from the November board meeting to be involved in the strategic planning processes for the next year.
We are interested in applicants who have:
- An understanding of corporate governance, some governance experience and have a career goal to develop their governance skills
- Well developed communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Significant commercial experience
- Other experience or expertise that can add value; knowledge of new technologies and social media could be an advantage
